MCIII takes Pittsburgh by Chevy HHR! Yesterday, we got up at 6am and fueled by more Dunkin Donuts we drove this terrible excuse for an automobile across Pennsylvania to make it to Pittsburgh in time for the Pirates game at PNC Park, so Manish can cross it off his list. The pictures this day are not super good because my digital camera ran out of juice right before we got to PNC. We were hoping to witness history that afternoon. The Pirates are about to clinch their 13th consecutive losing season, a feat that has never happened before in ANY sport. Much to our chagrin, they pulled off a very exciting comeback in the bottom of the ninth. MG did *not* catch a foul ball, but the little kid in front of me did. For dinner, we decided to step things up from the watery pizza we were served at lunch, so we got sushi. No boat this year but it was still delicious. We saw Mike Judge's new movie, Extract after dinner which was sort of funny. Here is the trailer - All in all, MCIII went off without a hitch. Already looking forward MCIV: A New Hope which will probably be in Texas next year. I hope *everyone* can make it but we will see.
MCIII rolls into Philly on the Bolt Bus. This short little trip was actually one of the most entertaining parts of MCIII for me and MG, all thanks to one nauseous young lady from Penn State who sat next to us. We spent the afternoon walking around Philadelphia's more historic districts before meeting up with my friends, Rafael & Kea and Josh's brother, Adam. That evening, we dined at this incredible restaurant Raf recommended, Melograno. After dinner and gelato, we went to some bar in Philly that had a ton of bachelorette parties going down. MG enjoyed himself thoroughly.
A very hungover crew continues MCIII in NY with a visit to Flushing Meadows for the US Open and the Mets v. Cubs game at Citi Field. At the US Open, we saw Serena Williams make quick work of Maria Jose Martinez Sanchez and watched good ol' Norman & Woodie play doubles on Court 14. The Mets were crushing the Cubs 6 -1 when we left at bottom of the 8th. MG made a new friend from Boston on the 7 back to the hacienda. Then we proceeded to tie another on at The Continental and this time with my boss and guiding light, Collard. It was a very late night and I am glad everyone made it back in one piece.
Mancation 2009 (MCIII) begins with the arrival of Manish to NYC! What a fun night. MG, PB, Josh and I hit up the Jets v. Eagles preseason game, The Darkroom in the LES and other fine NY establishments on this first night of mancation goodness.
